Saltidin®Technical InformationRegistrationEfficacyVectorsApplicationsRecommendationsLinks & PRContactFAQHow to protect yourself

Saltin® protects wherever you are: If travelling abroad or during any activity at home in your garden. Avoiding mosquito bites is a reliable way of preventing diseases such as malaria, dengue fever, west-nile virus and yellow fever.

Clothing
Light-colored clothing deters insects which are active in dusk and at night. The material needs to be finely woven to prevent mosquitoes from biting through the clothing. Make sure that your clothing covers your entire body.

Mosquito nets
Mosquito nets provide protection against mosquitoes and also against bugs and other vermin. The size of the mesh needs to be appropiate for the smallest insects, and should be less than 1.2 mm.

Air-conditioning
Insects avoid cool rooms, so air-conditioning units in hotels and apartments provide a certain degree of protection. However air-conditioning is the subject of some controversy: it can lead to malaise and colds. In many cases it is sufficient to cool the room thoroughly by switching on the air-conditioning for two hours before you go to bed. This is often enough to deter mosquitoes. When you go to bed, you can switch off the air-conditioning.

Repellents
Repellents are products which deter insects and are applied to exposed areas of skin. Saltidin® provides reliable protection against mosquitoes for up to eight hours*. Please note the following when using repellents:

  • Make sure that the repellent covers all the exposed skin
  • Use repellents also under thin clothing or spray it onto thin clothing
  • Please remember that the duration of action can vary depending on the type of insect. The duration of action may be reduced if you perspire, if there is a high level of humidity in the air, or if the repellent gets rubbed off. In such cases, please remember to reapply the product if needed
  • Most repellents are not completely water-resistant, so you should reapply them after swimming or bathing
  • If you use other skincare or sun-protection products at the time, always apply the repellent last.
